GO:MIXER PRO

Livestream Gear

So you been watching my livestream and wondering what gear I am using?

Well, wonder no longer. I am about to let the cat out of the bag in the hopes to inspire you to get on and create.

I like to make life as stress free as possible, especially when playing music. Needless to say, for me an elaborate set up just wasn’t going to cut the mustard. I really like to plug and play without having to worry about all the bells and whistles.

So I have to thank my mate Jamie for the red hot tip on the mixer - I would never have found the “Roland GO:MIXER PRO” without his suggestion.

The “Roland GO:MIXER PRO” was the perfect option for me, it is basically a plug and pay. Can be powered by the phone or batteries. Simple controls and plugs straight into the phone - no particular phone settings required. Oh and it is tiny!

Remember!  Do not let lack of equipment give you an excuse to not give live streaming a go!  Your crew needs you!  You can get your party started with just a good internet connection and your phone with phone mic.

Here is a good list of all the stuff I use to get a livestream happening:

  • Roland GO:MIXER PRO

  • Sure Beta 58 Microphone

  • D’Addario Microphone & Instrument Cable

  • Mic Stand

  • The old pick holder

  • The Maton Performer Guitar (most of the time)

  • Stool

  • Tripod

  • Iphone 11

  • Ipad w/ On Song App

  • Ipad holder

  • Ring light 18”

  • Extension leads/power board

  • Reminder post-its with question of the week and quote of the week!

The thing I love about livestream is everyone has an opportunity to have input into the show as it unfolds. We have running jokes and I seems to be reaching people in a way that I never expected.

If you had told me how much I would love doing this, I would have started ages ago!  Let’s be honest, I was a bit nervous about doing anything like this.  I realised my mindset was getting in the way…

Mindset is the biggest barrier to taking action, so here is my two bobs worth for others wanting to give live streaming a try:

  • Get out of your own way - stop making excuses and do it already!

  • Be real - don’t try to be anyone other than yourself

  • Don’t dwell on mistakes - we human, and when you watch back you will realise they were hardly noticeable

  • Most importantly allow yourself to have some fun!
